This was the first time we had conducted gradings on the coast in over 7 years with it being a complete success. Students attempted gradings in Zen Do Kai, Kidz Karate and BJC Muay Thai and as usual the level was solid right across the board. This was also the first time that we have had students attempt tag gradings. I bought the concept back from Toowoomba where it works extremely well and it appeared to have the same effect for us. Congratulations to all students for their hard work and effort in supporting the event.
We followed the grading with a black belt class which is still hurting. Renshi Bruce and Renshi Kyl took us through a blistering workout aimed at whole body torture. I loved it and still think it is an excellent program to be using if your grading at Senjo in November you’d be crazy not to do it. After a short break Kru Bruce took the Thai Instructors through the Ram Muay and the Wai Kru. I then took all other black belts through Kata training and finished off with some sword/self defence concepts Soke Bob has been talking about.
I can’t wait for Senjo and our 2008 Presentation Dinner to arrive, look out for details in the coming weeks to secure tickets.
Finally, a little hello to Dai Sempai Michael Brindley who has broken his lower leg playing skirmish. We wish you a full and healthy recovery and look forward to catching up at Senjo.
