Starting A New Year

The first few training nights of any year are important, some of you will have had 3 or 4 wks off and spent much of that time immersed in Christmas cheer.

Unfortunately your brains will be saying you can do all the things you did 4 wks ago. This is the time to be aware, your general fitness will have declined a bit but more importantly your flexibility and recovery time will be affected greatly.

I recently watched a documentry on an AFL team in which they changed their training emphasis from strength to flexibility and reduced their injuries by up to 70%.

For the next 4 weeks spend more time regaining your flexibility and less time over stressing your body if you want to perform at your best all year.
