2009 Black Belt Camp

After a slight detour (120kms round trip) I arrived at Woondoomba Dam outside of Proston. The lake was majestic and certainly well worth the visit, we spent the morning discussing various aspects of not only martial arts but life in general, sort of a city life detox.

Training was held at the lookout camping grounds and our first lesson included basic kata application to flow drills culminating in pain receptors and their various applications. Nearing the end of the first seesion CJ and Jono (noodles as he was affectionately called) arrived and we discussed the various parts of Shisochin, history, applications etc. We completed training around 6pm and headed off for tea and some good old fashioned camp fire discussion continued until nearly midnight.

After waking to the sound of what seemed like 1000 fishing boats all heading out for the start of day two of their fishing comp we ate and packed up. I spent the rest of the morning taking the guys through basic sword training, sai and kama training before completing the camp around midday.

Sure the camp was in the sticks and sure i got lost and sure the training might have been better in a hall somewhere on the coast overlooking a pool of bikini clad beauties. BUT those of us who took the time to venture out there to challenge the wilderness, to be at one with nature WE have braggin rights for the next 12 months.

Of course if you go throwin your braggin rights around and pushing buttons on a certain Renshi then good luck, let me know how that goes.

Keep your eyes peeled for more day seminars to be held across Qld.
